Community-Based Mosquito Control: Prospects for reducing the spread of West Nile virus and mosquito populations

Points to discuss:

  • Partnership between the City of Davis, the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District (SYMVCD) and citizens to develop active community-based responses for mosquito control as a way to reduce West Nile virus activity and nuisance mosquitoes
  • Elements of Integrated Vector Management
  • Identification of effective elements via community mobilization and action in collaboration with SYMVCD
  • Discuss actions each partner could take to establish this community- based mosquito control program (i.e. identification of sites, distribution of fliers, communication with residents, etc.)
