Earlier this week, the Dan Wolk for State Assembly Campaign announced that Mr. Wolk had received, in his campaign for the 4th Assembly District, the endorsement of former Congressman Vic Fazio. Fazio served in Congress for 20 years, representing a district that included Yolo, Colusa and Solano Counties.

“I am proud to endorse Dan Wolk for Assembly because he is smart, energetic and has the ability to bring people together to achieve common goals,” said Fazio. “Dan’s experience as a County Attorney and Mayor on water, economic development, public health and more give him the skills needed to lead in Sacramento.”

In his time in Congress, Fazio was a strong advocate for the region on issues such as water, energy and the environment. He served as a member of the House Democratic Leadership, and on the Appropriations, Budget, Armed Services and Ethics Committees. In 1997, President Clinton dedicated the Vic Fazio Yolo Wildlife Area in his honor, which is a 3,700-acre wetland restoration project that Fazio was instrumental in creating.

A few days later, the Dan Wolk for State Assembly Campaign announced that it had received the endorsement from the California League of Conservation Voters.

The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV), the non-partisan political arm of California’s environmental movement, announced that they are endorsing Davis Mayor Dan Wolk for the 4th Assembly District. CLCV cited Wolk’s record on environmental issues and his dedication to protecting natural resources.

“The California League of Conservation Voters is proud to endorse Dan Wolk for Assembly because he is a true leader for the environment,” said Sarah Rose, CLCV’s Chief Executive Officer. “Dan is committed to protecting natural resources and our environment, including addressing climate change and ensuring the long-term resiliency of our water supply.”

Wolk has built an impressive record on environmental issues as Mayor of Davis and as Deputy County Counsel for Solano County, where he handles water issues. These have included leading efforts to create a regional surface water supply project that will reduce reliance on environmentally unsustainable groundwater. And he has implemented a number of initiatives to increase the availability of renewable energy in Davis.

CLCV’s mission is to protect and enhance the environment and the health of all California communities by electing environmental champions, advancing critical priorities and holding policymakers accountable.

CLCV joins more than 75 state and local elected officials who have endorsed Wolk, including environmental leaders such as Senator Mike McGuire, former Congressman Vic Fazio, former Assemblymember Michael Allen and former Assemblymember and Director of the California Department of Water Resources Tom Hannigan. Wolk also has the support of 21 county-level elected officials and nine mayors in the district.

Assembly District 4 consists of Napa and Lake Counties, most of Yolo County, as well as portions of Sonoma, Solano and Colusa Counties.

  1. Interesting….I will need to find out more about her. Her campaign has been pretty quiet at least from my ears. My vote is certainly open. I know whom I won’t be voting for but not whom I will!

      1. Uh… guess you didn’t read your own cites, Don… in the first line of the Fairfield paper piece, it says he is based in Esparto.  Yolo county.  Rural.  Cool little town.
