Mariko YamadaToday Mariko Yamada’s campaign for State Senate District 3 announced a new endorsement from the Davis Democratic Club, a longtime Democratic Party institution in Yolo County.

The organization joins other local Democratic clubs supporting Yamada’s campaign, including Diablo Valley Democratic Club, Northern Solano Democratic Club, Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento, Stonewall Democratic Club of Solano County and United Democrats of Southern Solano County. Stonewall Young Democrats of Los Angeles County endorsed Yamada one year ago.

“Since the mid-90s when I began serving with Mariko on both the Yolo County Democratic Party and the Davis Democratic Club Board of Directors, I have always found her to exemplify what it means to be a Democrat,” said Stephen Souza, President of the Davis Democratic Club.

Mariko Yamada said, “I have been an active Davis Democratic Club member for 20 years. I’m proud to have worked with their members as Yolo County Supervisor, as Assemblywoman from the 4th district, and as a neighbor and friend.”

Yamada continued, “In Sacramento, I saw time and time again the toxic influence of big money. I am proud to take a stand against corporate special interests on behalf of hardworking families. Ours is a people-powered campaign, and as the next State Senator, I will fight hard for the most vulnerable communities in this district and throughout the state.”

The Davis Democratic Club endorsement adds to a broad coalition of support that includes the California Nurses Association, California Federation of Teachers, SEIU California, California League of Conservation Voters, EMILY’s List, California Women’s List, National Women’s Political Caucus, California Association of Psychiatric Technicians and scores of principled Democratic leaders including State Controller Betty Yee, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, Treasurer John Chiang, Congressman John Garamendi and community leaders throughout the state.
