Court Delays Release of Chicago Immigrants Detained without Cause

The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeal has delayed the release of hundreds of Chicago-area community members arrested without warrants or reasonable cause, in violation of the Castañon Nava federal consent decree, causing further separation of families and allowing unlawful immigration enforcement to continue.

Broadview ICE Detainees Denied Legal Counsel, Face Inhumane Conditions

The ACLU of Illinois has filed an emergency class action lawsuit alleging that individuals detained at the Broadview ICE Facility are being denied access to legal counsel and subjected to inhumane and unlawful conditions, and that ICE agents have repeatedly denied entry to attorneys, members of Congress, and faith leaders seeking to inspect the facility.
