California lawmakers are exploring innovative construction methods, such as factory-based construction, to reduce costs and increase housing production in order to address the state’s severe housing shortage.
Assemblymember Buffy Wicks convened the first hearing of the California Assembly’s new Select Committee on Housing Construction Innovation to explore ways to reduce housing costs by modernizing how homes are built across the state.
Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas has appointed Assemblymember Buffy Wicks to chair a newly created Select Committee on Housing Construction Innovation to examine ways to reduce housing costs, speed construction, and align housing production with the state’s climate goals.
