Cynthia Rodriguez, a retired public defender, is running for DA in Yolo County, California—a relatively small county, next to Sacramento and the home of UC Davis.
She is taking on four-time incumbent Jeff Reisig. In 2018, Reisig narrowly averted defeat when he beat Public Defender Dean Johansson by a very narrow margin.
Reisig has recently taken on a reformist tone, although he signed onto the letter by Anne Marie Schubert opposing good time credits that would lead to an early release of incarcerated people—he is a supporter of AB 1542, which reformers worry would create mandatory treatment for drug addicts, and he has spoken out strongly against zero bail.
Listen as Rodriguez talks about Reisig’s record and discusses her own reformist agenda.

The campaign begins, with an infomercial… this ought to be ‘good’… starting over a year away from decision time… am already inclined to look for a third choice…
I get leery when it seems the “packaging” is stressed before the ‘contents’…
You clearly didn’t watch/ listen to this .
You clearly don’t understand that my referent was your posting of this…
Given your past record of “anyone but Reisig”, your repeated use of “narrow” in one sentence, you are clearly not reporting, you’re advocating…
What’s the point of making blind comments? Why not listen and respond accordingly rather than assume and fire blindly?
She clearing is outstanding her field . . . or, judging by the campaign photos, out standing in her orchard.
Well one thing we can “clearly” count on is that the Vanguard coverage of the candidates will be unbiased and balanced.
Thank you, Captain Obvious… your tongue (fully) in cheek comment is “spot on”… je d’accord…
