Davis Mayor Joe Krovoza will deliver the State of the City address at Community Chambers located at 23 Russell Blvd. in Davis. The event, hosted by the Davis Vanguard, is open to the public and will run from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21st.“The State of the City is a great chance for all to hear a review of the major actions of the city in 2013, and receive a foreshadowing of what’s coming in the New Year. I’ll highlight the challenges ahead from budget and finance, to sustainability, to the delivery of core services. And then we’ll have a full Q&A. I hope all will come — and then increase their engagement with the Council and city staff for 2014,” said Mayor Krovoza.
David Greenwald, Executive Director of the Davis Vanguard encourages members of the public to attend stating, “We welcome members of the public to come and hear Mayor Krovoza provide an update on both accomplishments and challenges that the city faces and how citizens can be involved. The Davis Vanguard is sponsoring this event, because we firmly believe that transparency and dialogue with all members of the public is important.”

What is meant by “hosting”? Is the Vanguard paying for refreshments? City staff time? Is this a regular CC meeting?
We’re renting the facility and publicizing the event. There is no council meeting scheduled for that evening.

Good luck on having this be a well-attended event. Considering that the traditional “live audience” already has been through the talk and its been covered by the media, some folks might see The Vanguard version as anti-climatic.
The mayor is wise to have accepted your invitation. You are wise to have offered, given your upset about the Chamber event and your odd, personal attack on Kemble Pope (“more to come”).
Will the event be broadcast? How much does the city charge you for this? I hope it’s some token amount–we’ve already paid for this building! I like hpierce’s idea of pulling some in with refreshments.
Put out pizza and beer and I’ll go.
