Sacramento – In an effort to raise awareness about the decimation of the public education system due to lack of funding, a group of activists are inviting school children of all ages as well as college students and adults to stop by their art exhibit: The Decimation of the Public Education System.  People are also invited to bring their art if they have worked on an art piece at home.  All art must be framed in some manner.

The art will be taken to the California State Capitol to help Legislators understand what the “Decimation of Public Education” means to children and adults of all ages. Amy Hines, one of the organizers of the event says that, “Elected officials are at times removed from the true impact that their decisions are having on the education system and on the lives of children and adults. It’s time for them to understand what the decimation of the public education system means to individuals and children of all ages. We must take a stand and fight for the funding of education.  It must be a priority.  We welcome people to stop by the exhibit at the following locations and bring their art.”
The Art Exhibit THE DECIMATION OF THE PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM includes art pieces selected from those provided by the public, and will take place the following days:

Second Saturday in Sacramento (Next Sat. May 8th): Spanglish art gallery 905 23rd Street

As well as the event on Sunday, May 9th – on Friday, May 14th the Sol Collective will be hosting a world music DJ set at 8:00 pm, and we are providing the visual back drop. $5.00 entrance fee.
