UC Davis Athletics Cut Townhall‏

On April 16, 2010 UC Davis athletics administrators announced that they will cut the women’s rowing, men’s wrestling, men’s indoor track, and men’s swimming and diving teams this summer in order to address a $1.79 million budget cut to the athletics department.

The UC Davis student and alumni community have protested the cuts of these teams as unnecessary and unfair.
UC Davis community members opposed to the athletic cuts will hold a town hall meeting at the UC Davis Conference Center on May 19 at 6 p.m. Members of the press are invited to attend.  The public forum will include an overview of the flawed criteria used by the administrative work group to make the athletic cuts, as well as a presentation of budget models that would continue all 27 sports.

Legendary wrestler and coach Dan Gable will be on campus May 19th to show his support for the cut teams, attending a rally on the quad at 4:30 p.m.
