Meet school board candidate Madhavi Sunder at an informal gathering this Sunday, November 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. hosted by former Davis Mayor Ken Wagstaff and his wife Diane. Also at the Wagstaffs home will be school board candidates Barbara Archer and Bob Poppenga. Introducing the three candidate will be City Council member Brett Lee. To RSVP (and to obtain the house address), please email SunderForSchools@gmail.com.
The Sunder campaign would also like to reminder voters that today, October 29, is the last day to mail in an absentee ballot to ensure that it arrives by election day. If you know anyone who receives an absentee ballot, please make sure they mail it in today! An absentee ballot can be hand delivered to the polling place on election day, or to the Yolo County Elections office in Woodland prior to election day.
Madhavi Sunder, a professor of law at UC Davis since 1999, is a daughter of immigrants, attended public schools before graduating from Harvard and from Stanford Law School, and actively participates in the Davis community. She is the only candidate to visit all 20 schools in Davis and has catalogued her tour, along with beautiful photographs of each campus taken by Rik Keller Photography at http://www.sunderforschools.org/schooltour.
The Sunder campaign is honored to have earned the support of many teachers, elected officials, and prominent entities. Included among the campaign’s many endorsers are the Davis Teachers Association, State Superintendent of Public Education Tom Torlakson, the Davis Enterprise, the Sacramento Bee, the Yolo County Democratic Party, the Davis College Democrats, State Senator Lois Wolk, State Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada, Former Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court Cruz Reynoso, Davis Mayor Dan Wolk, and Davis Mayor Pro Tem Robb Davis.
