December’s 2^nd Friday ArtAbout will be a bright evening with new artists, new participating businesses, live music, and gorgeous twinkle lights. As part of Davis Downtown’s Light Up the Holidays, several downtown businesses will keep their lights on and holiday décor up for the community to enjoy. Stroll through lively downtown on December 12^th evening, while visiting the 23 ArtAbout venues hosting artist’s receptions with hors d’oeuvres, wine, art, and sales!

Special this month, Watermelon Music will be a part of the 2^nd Friday ArtAbout for the very first time in their 18 years of business! The community is invited to come celebrate with them and to enjoy live music and a fantastic window display of music related art collages by Tom Corbett.

• Boheme Used Clothing and Gifts, 409 Third St., 530-341-2004; live music, 6:30 – 8 p.m., Xylocopa, a Davis-based band that plays an eclectic mix of rock-n-roll, soul, reggae, folk-rock, and psychedelia – both covers and originals. • Davis Odd Fellows Lodge, 415 Second St.; performance, 6 – 7 p.m., “Odd Poetry”, immediately outside (or inside if inclement weather) the Odd Fellows Lodge, you will find the Odd Poets. Stop by for a few minutes or for the full hour for spoken word, poetry, verse, humor, and fun. Since this is an open mic event, this is your chance to grace the stage with your presence, and share with us your own favorite poems (original and otherwise)!
• Fretted Strings, 231 G St., Suite 27 (Court-N-Cedar, upstairs); reception, 6 – 8:30 p.m., Live music with Michael Musial and Joaquin Feliciano. Michael Musial is a classically trained pianist with a primary interest in guitar. He can be heard playing American Primitive style covers, original arrangements of cover songs and a few original instrumentals as well. Joaquin Feliciano’s performances burst with energy, humor, emotion, and wisdom. Augmented by his engaging storytelling and spare guitar style, Joaquin’s original and cover songs include early and contemporary folk and cowboy music and lullabies that speak about the sorrow, joy, pain, absurdity, and learning that accompany life’s transitions.
