Mariko Yamada, candidate for California State Senate District 3, announced today the endorsement of the National Women’s Political Caucus of California (NWPC-CA), an organization dedicated to increasing the involvement of pro-choice women in politics.
“National Women’s Political Caucus of California is proud to endorse Mariko Yamada for State Senate. She doesn’t back down. She always takes a stand – especially when it comes to strengthening middle class families, promoting diversity and gender equality and addressing economic inequality,” said Sherri Loveland, NWPC-CA President. “We need more women like Mariko in our state government.”
Today’s announcement comes on the heels of earlier endorsements this week from key California Democratic Party leaders. The National Women’s Political Caucus of California joins the California Nurses Association, California Federation of Teachers, California Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus, California Women’s List, CA State Controller Betty Yee, CA State Treasurer John Chiang, CA State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, CA State Senator Holly Mitchell and scores of other prominent leaders and organizations that are standing with Mariko Yamada.
Yamada said, “I am honored to have the National Women’s Political Caucus of California’s support. Our state is making progress on addressing gender equality – but we have so much work to do when it comes to protecting the middle class, raising the minimum wage and creating family-sustaining jobs.”
She continued, “I’ve dedicated my entire life – as a social worker, Yolo County Supervisor and former Assemblymember – to fighting for those who can’t always fight for themselves. We need courageous leaders who will champion issues affecting seniors, single parents, students, veterans, immigrants, the disabled and the working poor. As State Senator, I will continue to advocate for those who are underrepresented and underserved throughout the state.”
