Today, the Don Saylor for State Assembly Campaign announced the endorsement of California State Controller Betty Yee.  Yee joins California State Treasurer John Chiang and California State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones who also have endorsed Saylor’s candidacy.

In announcing the endorsement, Yee said, “We need more leaders in the Assembly who will look out for the needs of all Californians.  Don has a demonstrated record of responsible fiscal stewardship at the state and local levels of government:  as a legislative analyst, a county supervisor, a city council member, and school board member.”

Saylor said, “I am honored to have the support of Controller Betty Yee.  As the product of California public schools and the daughter of immigrant parents, Betty has always looked out for California’s working families while driving our state’s economy forward.”

Yee joins a growing list of leaders and organizations supporting Saylor’s campaign for Assembly.  Saylor has the support of SEIU California, AFSCME Council 57, the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 447, and the Sacramento Stonewall Democrats.  He has also been endorsed by Civil Rights Leader Dolores Huerta, Napa County Supervisor Brad Wagenknecht, Lake County Supervisor Anthony Farrington, Vice-Chair of the California Democratic Party Alexandra Gallardo-Rooker, American Canyon City Council Member Joan Bennett, Napa City Council Member Juliana Inman, Sonoma County Supervisors Efren Carrillo, James Gore, Susan Gorin, and Shirlee Zane and more than 50 other current or former elected officials.

Since 2011, Saylor has served on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors and has chaired the Sacramento Area Council of Governments.  Between 2004 and 2010, he was Mayor and Council Member in the City of Davis.  He served as a trustee of the Davis Joint Unified School District between 1995 and 2003.
