Bob Poppenga, candidate for Davis School Board in this November’s election, welcomes you to meet him at his pop-up tent this Saturday at the Davis Farmers’ Market. Children are encouraged to come, too, with a fun animal-themed stamp activity for all ages, young and young at heart.
And save the date of August 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. for a Poppenga Back To School Lemonade Party in Slide Hill Park. Leashed pooches will receive a special treat!
Bob Poppenga is a faculty veterinarian at UC Davis and the first official candidate for the Davis school board in the November election. Poppenga has been a university educator for over 25 years. He moved to Davis with his wife (also a faculty veterinarian) in 2004. Their two teenage daughters attend Davis public schools.
Bob is committed to providing a quality public school education for every child to help them thrive in a globally competitive environment. He believes there are three keys to a quality public education: 1) academic excellence; 2) equity in providing opportunities for each student to discover their passions and to reach their individual potentials; and 3) basing policy decisions on the best evidence and best practices.
To date, Poppenga has been endorsed by Senator Lois Wolk, County Supervisor Jim Provenza, current Mayor Robb Davis, current City Council member Will Arnold, current school board president Madhavi Sunder, former Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada, former Mayors Joe Krovoza and Dan Wolk, former California Supreme Court Justice Cruz Reynoso, former City Council member and DJUSD teacher Deb Poulos, and former school board members Joan Sallee, B.J. Kline, and Gina Daleiden.
