A Newport Beach judge denied a request to reduce fines for a nursing student who pleaded guilty to DUI, ruling that a payment plan would make the financial penalty manageable despite her limited income.
An accused individual was ordered to pay the remaining balance of victim restitution and $265 in fines, as well as complete 40 hours of community service, before his case can be formally resolved.
Judge Carlton P. Biggs denied a request for conditional release and set $20,000 bail for a foreign national facing DUI-related probation proceedings, citing the accused’s previous arrests and high blood alcohol content levels.
A Yolo County Superior Court judge granted judicial diversion to a 23-year-old man accused of driving with a suspended license, overruling prosecution objections, with the condition that he install an ignition interlock device in any vehicle he drives to prevent future incidents of impaired driving.
The court ruled that an ignition interlock device was a more appropriate alternative to SCRAM alcohol monitoring, due to the financial and employment burden it would place on the accused, and ordered the accused to attend AA and the Alive at 25 program.
