Hello Davis Vanguard Readers,
As one of the most politically active subsets of the Davis Community, please help me get the word out that all Davis community members are invited to the upcoming Community Values Forum with the five city council candidates tonight (Monday, May 12) at 6:00 p.m. This Forum discussing community values will be held in the Sanctuary of Davis Community Church (main door is on 4th St, between C and D), but please don’t be put off by the location, as this is not a religious event at all. It is an important community-building event.
This forum was a big success when it was first held, before the last city council election in 2012. It is a unique opportunity to engage with the candidates themselves before our upcoming election. Questions will focus on the candidates’ understanding of the values held by the greater Davis community, as well as the personal characteristics the candidates possess for leading our fair city. Questions will focus less on specific issues and more on underlying values and priorities that guide each candidate’s decision-making. Example topics may include: social justice, conflict management, communication, social ethics and leadership style.
We want members of the community to suggest what questions to ask! We invite you to submit questions for the candidates! The link for question submissions is: http://dccpres.org/community-values-forum/. Feel free to distribute this notice to others who may be interested. There will only be a small number of questions, due to very limited time, and questions will be selected in advance. Some will be provided to the candidates in advance, while others will not.
To volunteer your support or offer to sponsor this event in some way, please email me at communityvaluesforum@gmail.com
Thanks!
This event is now co-sponsored by Davis Media Access!
