AG Secretary Rominger (Ret.) Endorses Dodd For Senate

Bill DoddAssemblyman Bill Dodd today announced that esteemed former California Secretary of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary, and Yolo County farmer Richard Rominger has endorsed his candidacy for the California State Senate in District 3. Also joining Secretary Rominger in supporting Dodd are his wife, Evelyne, sons, Bruce and Rick and their wives Robyn and Patty.

“Bill Dodd’s thoughtful approach to sustaining California’s agricultural economy now and into the future has convinced me he is the right choice to be our state senator,” said Secretary Rominger. “Bill’s ability to work with people from different viewpoints to find solutions is refreshing and something we need more of in Sacramento.”

Richard E. Rominger is a fourth generation Yolo County California farmer. Secretary Rominger, served six years as Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture from 1977 through 1982. He was the Deputy Secretary at the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC from 1993 to 2001. He continues to serve as a Special Advisor to the University of California, Davis Chancellor, on the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council, and on the Advisory Council of the Agricultural Sustainability Institute.

Rominger Brothers Farms, run by Rick and Bruce Rominger, is a progressive, diversified family farm and ranch located north of Winters, California. They produce many different crops using organic and conventional techniques, including winegrapes, processing tomatoes, rice, wheat, corn, safflower, sunflower, onions, alfalfa and oat hay. As stewards of the land, Bruce and Rick are committed to growing crops in ways that protect the environment, such as minimizing the use of crop protection materials, using drip irrigation to conserve water and using sheep to graze crop residue.

Dodd is running in the 3rd Senate District, which includes all of Napa and Solano Counties, as well as portions of Contra Costa, Sacramento, Sonoma and Yolo Counties. It includes the cities of Petaluma, Cotati, Rohnert Park, Sonoma, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, American Canyon, Calistoga, Napa, St. Helena, Yountville, Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville, Vallejo, Davis, Winters, Woodland and Isleton.

Dodd is a Democrat from Napa County. After a successful 25-year business career, Dodd served four terms on the Napa County Board of Supervisors, and currently represents the 4th Assembly District.
