Local Students Demonstrate Engineering Excellence in Local Off-Season Competition

Wolfpack-Robotics

Event:                This year’s Capital City Classic (CCC) is presented by Wolfpack Robotics from Consumnes Oaks High School, EagleForce from Pleasant Grove High School, and the Citrus Circuits from Davis High School. After countless hours of planning and preparation, our three teams are excited to bring you the best CCC yet!

What:                 Thirty-three teams armed with knowledgeable mentors and eager students will participate in this year’s competition. Teams will be playing the 2016 FRC game FIRST STRONGHOLD. More information on this year’s game can be found on firstinspires.org.

This year’s Capital City Classic aims to connect world-class mentors with eager local teams. Ranging from strategic design to how to succeed as a rookie, our workshops have something for everyone.

At the Competition:       Each team brings a 150 pound robot to compete on a basketball court sized field, and hundreds of students follow the competition with the same exciting energy as a sporting event, but in the name of STEM education! In between matches, teams work furiously to repair their robots and prep them for the next match. In FIRST STRONGHOLDSM,[1] two Alliances of three robots each are on a Quest to breach their opponents’ fortifications, weaken and capture their tower with boulders and then scale it.

When:                Saturday, October 22 to Sunday, October 23

Time:                 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where:               Cosumnes Oaks High School, 8350 Lotz Pkwy, Elk Grove, CA 95757

Cost:                  Admission is free and open to the public. More information can be found at http://www.wolfpackrobotics.org/capitalcityclassic/
