With less than one week to go before election day and hoping to reach as many voters as possible, candidate for Davis School Board Bob Poppenga invites the public to meet him this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
On Friday, November 4, from 9 to 10 a.m., Bob will be at Common Grounds at Oakshade Town Center, 2171 Cowell Boulevard.
On Saturday, November 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bob and his supporters will be at his booth at the Farmers’ Market in Central Park.
On Sunday, November 6, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.,  Bob will be at Toad Hollow Dog Park at 1919 Second Street with treats for your pet.
Bob recently earned the endorsement of the Sacramento Bee, describing him as follows:    “Poppenga – who has one child in the gifted program and another in the district’s program for English learners – brings a broad perspective, a fresh eye and perhaps a more personal stake in the district’s business.   As a smart newcomer, he should be given a chance to serve.”
If elected, Bob would be the only scientist on the School Board.  As the President of the Davis School Board, Madhavi Sunder, stresses:   “It is imperative that we have a scientist as one among our five-member School Board.  Over the past 10 years, STEM jobs have grown at three times the rate of other jobs.  Bob will help ensure our schools are preparing students for STEM jobs at all levels.  Bob’s service will enrich our schools.”
Bob is committed to working for quality public educational programs that allow each child to reach his or her full potential.   He has been a university educator for 30 years as a veterinarian and is active in the District and community.
Bob’s campaign website is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.   Please go to Bob4Schools.org and www.facebook.com/bob4schools
