The City of Davis launched a virtual community workshop for the Mace Ranch Innovation Center (MRIC) project. The community is invited to provide comments on the MRIC project and proposed plans from October 29 through November 15, 2015. The virtual workshop is available online at on the city website.
The virtual workshop includes an introduction from Davis City Manager Dirk Brazil, who explains why the City has been considering the development of innovation centers for over 20 years.
“Innovation Center projects have the potential to generate positive regional economic impacts, most significantly jobs and financial resources for the City,” said City Manager Dirk Brazil. “The City’s pursuit of innovation centers have been very deliberate and has included years of studies and analysis to get us where we are today.”
The virtual workshop also includes chaptered presentations from Mace Ranch Innovation Center Master Planner Prakash Pinto. Chapters include an overview of what innovation means to the MRIC development team, project sustainability features, an overview of the site plan, and an explanation of the mixed use housing alternative included in the project’s Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).
“The City continues to seek feedback from the community to ensure that the Innovation Center projects work for Davis,” said Mayor Dan Wolk. “The virtual community workshop is an innovative way for the community to learn about the MRIC project and provide feedback from the comfort of their home, or from their cell phone or tablet at their convenience. As this process continues, City staff will continue to provide additional opportunities for community feedback.”
Comments received from the virtual workshop will be used by the City and the MRIC development team to further refine the plans. Comments will not be considered formal comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR). The MRIC DEIR comment period remains open through November 12, 2015.
The Mace Ranch Innovation Center is proposed on 212 acres located at the northeast quadrant of Interstate 80 and Mace Boulevard in Yolo County immediately adjacent to the City limits. The project also includes the adjacent 16.6 acre Mace Triangle property.
