In perhaps the biggest endorsement to date, Dan Wolk has earned the support of his predecessor and current Assemblymember Bill Dodd in his pursuit of the State Assembly Seat.
Last year, Dan Wolk, the current Mayor of Davis, lost out to Bill Dodd. Mr. Dodd’s advantage in the western portion of the district trumped Mr. Wolk’s advantage in Yolo County. But it is a different story this time, as Mr. Wolk has two Democratic opponents in Yolo County in Supervisor Don Saylor (Davis) and Winters Mayor Cecilia Aguiar-Curry.
In a release, Assemblymember Bill Dodd announced Wednesday that he is endorsing Davis Mayor Dan Wolk to succeed him in the Assembly, citing Mr. Wolk’s experience and dedication to the issues important to the entire region.
Assemblymember Dodd joins more than 75 other state and local officials from all corners of the district who have endorsed Dan Wolk, including Senator Mike McGuire, 22 county officials and nine mayors.
“Mayor Dan Wolk is an effective advocate for the issues that impact our entire region, such as creating jobs, improving schools, protecting our environment and stabilizing our water supply,” said Assemblymember Dodd.
“Dan’s experience, skill and collaborative style will make him a reliable, trusted partner in Sacramento. I am proud to support Dan Wolk to succeed me in the Assembly.”
Assemblymember Dodd, according to the release, has built a reputation for delivering solutions on issues affecting real people. He has led the way on legislation to deal with gender pay equity, worked to designate the Berryessa Snow Mountain area as a national monument, co-wrote the law creating an Earned Income Tax Credit in California and helped secure $400 million dollars for career technical education throughout the state. Prior to serving in the Assembly, Dodd served on the Napa County Board of Supervisors for 14 years.
Currently serving as Mayor, Dan Wolk has been on the Davis City Council since 2011. He works as a Deputy County Counsel for Solano County, handling public finance, public contracting and water issues. He is also the founder of the Legal Clinic of Yolo County, a legal services provider for low-income families.
Assembly District 4 consists of Napa and Lake Counties, most of Yolo County, as well as portions of Sonoma, Solano and Colusa Counties.

the other cynic in me wonders what the deal cut between the wolks and dodd was. so they got him to give up a safe assembly seat, run for the senate clearing the space for dan wolk to run AND now he endorses on top of it. i fail to see the upside here?
