Election Day – Open Thread

Election+Day

Hey everyone – today figures to be interesting.  We have avoided national politics for sanity reasons, but today is about both local and national politics so today will be a more free form discussion.

I  will use this place to put in news as it comes in.  You are free to post or discuss the election.  There are a few rules.  I don’t want this to devolve into Trump is a Nazi, Clinton is a crook.  So keep it clean.

  1. If you are voting for Mariko and Cecilia Escamilla Greenwald and for Bob and Alan, and to get rid of the death penalty and let out those who are innocent…and FOR Garamendi, and for SCHAUP I hope you get to the polls.

If you think that the other local  C deserves a vote, well hope you get too busy with your soaps to make it out the door –  same with the female incumbent on the DJUSD race….

those folks of little clue who think that parents wanting the best for their children and a choice is a bad thing?   stay home, right?

Vote Bob and Alan for the DJUSD..

THOSE are the important races today….who cares about the Donald’s hair…. ever since HE started drinking the water it is actually growing back and getting some color back.

Even Amarosa thinks he is a good guy ..she sent me a private email…

While HRC supporters are still drinking the koolaid…oh well

And they are really getting frantic…I get more stuff from them and BO and wifey Michellle…..

Why are they all so worried?

    wait and see…

  2. PS  a riddle what do the BO and wifey Michele and Oprah and Bill Gates have in common

and many many other celebrities have in Common?  Like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and what is the name of that screaming judge on American Idol?

    And also the Donald…

if anyone want to guess go ahead.

and I will fill you in later…right now I am rushing to a funeral..    🙂

    cya

PS>   the constantly sicker and more demented looking HRC and her hubby who had dozens of women sue him do not?

    1. the constantly sicker and more demented looking HRC

You hit the nail on the head.  It’s looking more and more like she has Parkinson’s Disease.

  3. depends on how you earned your millions or billions…those who did it the hard way understand TRUMP

those who were born with a silver spoon are Killary voters….the poor who drink their koolaid and chat on their obamapones…THEY couldn’t find a job if someone was calling theme to come work.

You know the folks that BO was supposed to help…WTF are the jobs?  and why is the gap wider?

Follow the money and learn the truth….right?   some cannot find the truth if a 2 x4 hit them on the head at the Woodbridge site

    1. “depends on how you earned your millions or billions…those who did it the hard way understand TRUMP”

By hard way you mean had their dad write them a check

  4. nah be an immigrant and arrive here with nothing at the age of 6 1/2   – I paid my way through UCD In the 70s…

how many loans is the gov subsidizing for YOU?  Mr/Ms/IT CF?

I never got a dime when my daddy passed….mommy spent it all …

I never needed HIS dime….I made my own money as a kid and teen…and so on…of course UCD was WAY cheaper then and I shared a 2 bd/1 bath with four girls for $35 per month….Daddy pitched in at $50/month.  Annual fees were around $100 per year….right?   I babysat 24/7 to pay for everything else

and now I support Mommy also…right?  of course….

  5. As I said the Donald has a few things to learn yet…but he is a fast study….

If the wall gets built it will not be to keep out immigrants, it will be to keep the USA masses in…right?

Get your passport while you still can…

  6. Wow…so I came by the ole Davis house to pick up my mail and see how the renos are going…  and then some neighbors across the street were outside and we were chatting.

I said who did you vote for CA senate?   they said I don’t know…which one was that and..who is running and I said Mariko and Dodd and they are like oh yeah, we voted for Mariko ….we saw your sign ….   🙂

Every vote counts, right….   They voted a long time ago…big HRC fans, right?   oh well….

Then they were all happy that H is losing…right?   oh well…..

Though I had voted in favor of each school bond that I was aware of….since I arrived and before my children were in school….I was so fed up with the circus on the majority….I even said I was voting no…

After I found out that we could actually have a better majority on the DJUSD I changed my mind….

    Right?

May the best candidates win…some are women and some are men… I would never vote for someone with a proven record of lies, deceit and ineptness that caused deaths….just because she claims to be a woman…

  7. I’m more of a Hillary hater than a big fan of Trump but it looks like he might do it.

For me it’s all about the Supreme Court and Trump’s proposed nominees were solid.

Still a ways to go but am very surprised as the night didn’t start out well for Trump.

    Stay tuned………….

I like the quote there is probably only one politician in America that is such a egotistical moron that he might lose to Hillary and there is only one politician in America that is so dishonest and crooked that she might lose to Trump…

  8. Early returns have Bob Poppenga in first, Fernandes second and Lovenburg third.  we’ll have to see if that holds up.

Measure H passing early with 69 percent

Looks like Dodd and Aguiar-Currey cruising to victory

    It is Senator Kamala Harris

have to watch the props, but looks like 57 and 64 pass, think the DP measures are too close to call but DP may pass.

    1. The pattern for Davis school parcel tax election returns is that the first numbers usually show the lowest percentage of yes votes, and then it usually increases in subsequent updates.  Measure E in 2012 had an initial report of 65.1%, but eventually finished with 68.9%.

    2. Many precincts not reporting/counted… in addition, in some districts have up to 70% VBM and ~ 3-5% provisional ‘provisional’… no one should get too excited, until those latter votes are canvassed over the next couple of weeks… elections need to verify signature, eligibility on those… they may have done so on a portion of the VBM (those received say 1-2 weeks ago)…  stay tuned…

      1. You were right, as the later numbers came in the lead increased.

I knew you would be right because you’re the expert on all things DJUSD related.

        1. I have only seen a few outcomes change in Davis in ten years from the initial results – Lamar Heystek in 2006 and Rochelle Swanson in 2014 are the only two results I think I have seen change.

  9. The presidential election isn’t over yet, Hillary could still pull it out but not likely unless they rig it.

If you want to watch some sad faces tune into MSNBC.  So far no thrill going up Chris Mathew’s leg.

    1. Yes, and the Truman/Dewey contest was was “rigged” as well… but, if Trump becomes President, by Electoral College, Supreme Court, or House of Representatives, hope you will defend all of his “initiatives”/’accomplishments’, or …

  10. Classic mistake:   Leon Lett   (Google name, Dallas Cowboys, SuperBowl)

Overconfidence:   Clinton  celebrated @ 5 yard line so to speak, thought she had it

Didn’t do the actual work of getting her voters to polls.  Trump did.

The Trump camp simply outworked Hillary.

  11. Good morning America, let’s make America great again.

What a fantastic morning, I feel so good about this country.  It restores my faith.

I’ll bet the Democrats are now sorry that they destroyed the filibuster.

100 new judges in 100 days.

    Executive orders.

    Conservative Supreme Court judges.

I hope Trump goes after some of the Obama corruption like the IRS and Lois Lerner.

    I could go on forever……….

        1. We’ll have to see if Trump can reign in his impulsiveness and learn to govern on the fly. That’s a real question. The other problem that I posed in my column this morning is how divided the nation is, that’s not going to be fixed (by either candidate frankly).

  12. B…Bye Obamacare, what a disaster that’s been.

I think the spiraling health insurance costs that hit almost everyone right before the election did the most damage to the Democrat ticket.

    1. It is easy to say end Obamacare, but the question becomes and replace it with what? The old system is not going to automatically bounce into place if Obamacare is repealed. And then you have the problem of what do with 20 million uninsured people. There is a reason why the Republicans ended up sticking with Medicare and Social Security. I don’t think its that easy to undo. Change it, sure. It needs to be changed anyway.

      1. The premiums are sky high with huge deductibles.  I know some people who have it that say they don’t get any payback because they never reach the high deductible.   The program is unsustainable.  Hopefully they can come up with something better.

        1. Has not been sky high for me. Without Covered Calif, I would have had to cancel Kaiser (the rates went up so much, from around 2002 to 2012/3, whenever Cov Cal kicked in and saved me).

        2. Well there’s a lot of people who had healthcare that lost their insurance due to the advent of Obamacare that today can’t afford the new ACA rates.  I guess it all comes down to how much subsidies one can get and weighing whether paying the premiums with the high deductibles is better than just paying the fine.

  13. Last night the stock futures were down 750 points supposedly because Trump was winning.  I never understood that as Trump will be great for our economy.  Hillary was falsely portrayed to be good for Wall Street because she took their money. Well guess what, the market is up 60 points as I write this.  Saneness prevails.
