Federal Judge Left to Explain Immigration Law to Children as Funding Falters
An 11-year-old boy appeared in Sacramento Immigration Court with his grandmother, who could not afford a lawyer and were waitlisted by a church group overwhelmed with similar immigration cases, and was reassured by Judge Loreto Geisse that the government cannot remove him until she tells them to, while Assemblymember Mia Bonta introduced Assembly Bill 1261 to provide legal representation for all unaccompanied immigrant children in the state.
