Davis Media Access and Davis Odd Fellows are proud to announce that Joe Craven is bringing his wild energy, amazing musicianship and a ìbigî toolbox to whatís sure to be a raucous good time in the second of a three-part First Friday concert series on Friday, March 6. Always a showstopper and a great community supporter, Craven is taking time out of a busy touring schedule to play for a hometown crowd while also supporting the fundraising efforts of KDRT, 95.7, Davisí own low-power radio station. Craven will delight the audience with his immaculate finger work on fiddle, mandolin and anything else with a string, heíll take us all on a journey somewhere between avant-garde jazz and down home bluegrass as he melds and molds music genres with an artists grace and a toolbox full of fun, plus he’s sure to add a few surprises that may or may not include his amazing jawbone rendition of Old Man Tucker. Opening for Craven will be the dandy, down-home sound of the jug band Aesthetic Cling. Try watching these guys and not get a spring in your step, as they give their audiences an old time feel and a sweet jug sound sure to leave you smiling. So come on down young and old alike to the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 2nd St. in Davis, on Friday, March 6. Tickets are bargain priced, so folks can afford to have a little fun with local radio DJ’s, volunteers and supporters of free, local media. We’ll put a keg on ice and Purple Pearl wine will be available for purchase, plus ticket holders can get discounts on area dining by showing their stubs, and be sure to wear your dancing shoes as we guarantee a fun time for all.
