Six Problems with Governor Brown’s Tax Measure

COLUMN RIGHT – This November we will be asked to vote on Proposition-30, Governor Brown’s state ballot initiative to increase sales and income tax to help fund education and public safety.

If approved, Prop-30 will require an amendment to the California Constitution.  It will increase sales tax by .25% for four years.

Peterson’s Childhood Experiences Fuel Her Advocacy of Title I Students in Davis

Peterson-NancyNancy Peterson has worked as a volunteer at Montgomery Elementary for 12 years.  She has seen Montgomery become the first campus in Davis to enter Program Improvement status and has become a fierce advocate to at-risk and Title I children.

She brings to the school board race a candidate whose own children have been at Montgomery and who has a firsthand view of what happens when a school goes through program improvement.

New Wood Burning Restrictions Take Effect Today

FACT CHECK: There has been an ongoing debate in the letters to the editor about Medicare and Congressional Representive John Garamendi’s support for the Affordable Care Act.

A letter writer starts out arguing, “I heard many Democrats trying to scare seniors into thinking that Republicans would destroy these programs.  As a senior, frankly, I find this tactic by the president and John Garamendi to be offensive.”
