Election Digest: More Endorsements in Assembly Race

Thousands of Health Care and State Workers Endorse Dan Wolk for Assembly

SEIU California and California Nurses Association Cite Wolk’s Dedication to Health Care and Other Issues Important to California’s Working Families

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California and California Nurses Association (CNA) both announced today that they are endorsing Dan Wolk for State Assembly. SEIU and CNA are two of the largest unions in the state, representing nearly 800,000 Californians, with thousands of members in the 4th Assembly District.

SEIU and CNA cited Wolk’s commitment to issues important to California’s working families, including health care and women’s issues. They join a growing list of more than 100 state and local leaders endorsing Wolk. For a full list of organizations and individuals who have endorsed Dan Wolk, visit DanWolk.org.

“Dan Wolk has the experience and commitment to go to Sacramento to fight for a health care system that works for all Californians,” said Malinda Markowitz, RN, Co-President of the California Nurses Association. “The California Nurses Association is proud to endorse Dan and we look forward to working with him in the Assembly on access to health care for all.”

“We are proud to support Dan Wolk for Assembly because we believe he shares our commitment to stand up for working and middle class families in the 4th Assembly District”, said Sabrina Bucklin, SEIU’s Napa County Chapter President and Local 1021 Executive Board Member. “He’ll fight to make the California Dream a reality for all the dedicated, and hard working families represented by SEIU California.”

The endorsement from these unions opens the door for local chapters and members to operate phone banks, walk precincts and raise money for the Wolk campaign. Their support builds on growing momentum for the Wolk campaign from recent major endorsements, including the official endorsement of the California Democratic Party.

SEIU is the largest union in California, representing more than 700,000 social workers, nurses, classroom aides, state workers, security officers, college professors, home care workers and janitors.

Founded in 1903, the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee/AFL-CIO is a premiere organization of registered nurses and one of the nation’s fastest growing labor and professional organizations in the U.S. with more than 86,000 members in hospitals, clinics and home health agencies.

Assembly District 4 consists of Napa and Lake Counties, most of Yolo County, as well as portions of Sonoma, Solano and Colusa Counties.
