The Yolo County Democratic Party (YCDP) announced today its candidate endorsements for the upcoming November election. In the local school board race, they followed the recommendations of the DTA from this past summer.

For Davis Joint Unified School District Board of Education, the organization has endorsed Barbara Archer, Mike Nolan and Madhavi Sunder for the three open four-year seats. It has endorsed Alan Fernandes for the two-year seat. Mr. Fernandes is running unopposed.

“After a rigorous interview process, the Yolo County Democratic Party endorsed candidates who best reflected Democratic Party values and the party’s platform issues,” said Bob Schelen, chair, Yolo County Democratic Party. “We believe these candidates possess excellent qualities to serve in public office.”

The YCDP also endorsed in two West Sacramento races.

Candidate Mark Johannessen was endorsed for the position of councilmember for the West Sacramento City Council. He is currently West Sacramento’s Mayor Pro Tem and would continue in that role if reelected.

For Washington Unified School District Board of Education in West Sacramento, YCDP endorsed candidates Norma Alcala and Sarah Kirby-Gonzalez.

The Yolo County Democratic Central Committee serves as the official representative and governing body of the California Democratic Party in Yolo County, carrying out such duties as are consistent with the Elections Code of the State of California and the By Laws and policies of the California Democratic Party and Democratic National Committee.
