School District Offers ‘Internet After-Hours’ for Students and Families

Davis Joint Unified School District is launching an exciting new initiative to improve student and family access and communication. Beginning on Tuesday, April 21, DJUSD students and families will be able to attend Internet After-Hours at Davis Senior High Library or Montgomery Elementary Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5pm-8pm and on Saturdays, 9am-12pm. Library computers and Chromebooks will be available for use as well as Wi-Fi connectivity.

“As more school-related communications and school work assume digital access, we are keenly aware that not every member of our community has technology or Internet in their home. Internet After-Hours account for one small, but important step we are taking to provide access and opportunity. This is an essential piece of our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) efforts,” stated Winfred B. Roberson, Superintendent.

Bilingual staff will be available on-site during Internet After-Hours to assist with technical support and answer questions in Spanish and in English. Any DJUSD student or family member may take advantage of these open library hours to use computers to access email, websites, Google Apps and School Loop as well as to complete homework assignments, paperwork, print or even pay bills.

“We are working hard to ensure all DJUSD students have equitable access to learning and their families have the resources they need to support their children in school,” commented Marcia Bernard, Director of Instructional Technology.
