Thompson Cites Wolk’s Experience and Ability to Deliver for Entire Region
Davis Mayor Dan Wolk announced Tuesday that Congressman Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena) is endorsing his campaign for the 4th Assembly District. Thompson and other local leaders, including State Senator Mike McGuire, Assemblymember Bill Dodd and dozens of elected officials have united behind Wolk.
“I need a partner like Dan Wolk in Sacramento to work with me to tackle the tough issues facing our entire region. Dan has a first-hand understanding of the key issues that impact our communities,” said Congressman Thompson. “He has built an impressive record working to champion the middle class, find solutions to stabilize our water supply and strengthen our economy. Please join me in voting for Dan Wolk for Assembly.”
Congressman Thompson currently represents California’s 5th Congressional District, which includes all of Napa County, and parts of Contra Costa, Lake, Solano and Sonoma Counties. Recognized as a strong representative for his constituents, Thompson has worked on solutions that create jobs, strengthen the middle class, protect seniors and veterans, increase access to health care and preserve our environment for future generations. He is the co-founder and co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Wine Caucus. Prior to being elected to Congress in 1998, he served in the State Senate.
Currently serving as mayor, Wolk has been on the Davis City Council since 2011. He works as a Deputy County Counsel for Solano County, handling public finance, public contracting and water issues. He is also the founder of the Legal Clinic of Yolo County, a legal services provider for low-income families.
In addition to Thompson, Wolk has the support of more than 75 state and local elected officials in his campaign for State Assembly. They include 23 county level officials and nine mayors (including every mayor in Napa County), far more than any other candidate in the race. He has also been endorsed by several major statewide organizations, such as the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV), California Federation of Teachers (CFT), California School Employees Association (CSEA) and California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP).
Assembly District 4 consists of Napa and Lake Counties, most of Yolo County, as well as portions of Sonoma, Solano and Colusa Counties.
