Mariko YamadaYamada Continues To Grow Support From Labor And Unions Throughout California

Today, Mariko Yamada’s campaign for State Senate District 3 received the sole endorsement of the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW), an organization that advocates for healthcare workers and for quality patient care. NUHW is a worker-led union representing more than 10,000 healthcare workers throughout the state of California.

NUHW joins a growing list of labor unions and health and patient advocacy groups standing with Yamada, including SEIU California, AFSCME Council 57, California Nurses Association and California Association of Psychiatric Technicians.

“I’m honored to have the support of the hardworking members of NUHW,” Yamada said of the endorsement. “Throughout my career, I have taken a stand for caregivers and their clients, and supported their right to organize and hold corporations accountable. I look forward to continuing our work together as a member of the State Senate.”

Yamada added, “This race has come down to a simple choice. Stand with working Californians or stand with corporations. Corporate special interests have chosen their candidate and are spending more than a million dollars to support him. That’s why I’m proud to have organizations like NUHW standing with our campaign – because everyday people will lead us to victory on Election Day.”

NUHW joins a a broad coalition of support that also includes California Federation of Teachers, California League of Conservation Voters, EMILY’s List, California Women’s List, National Women’s Political Caucus of California, numerous local Democratic clubs and Democratic leaders like State Controller Betty Yee, California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, State Treasurer John Chiang, Congressman John Garamendi along with hundreds of elected officials and community leaders throughout California.
