I have known Bob Poppenga and his family since 2006. In addition to his approachable and easygoing manner, I have tremendous respect for his proven commitment to providing quality public education for the whole range of educational needs and learning styles present in our increasingly diverse student population.
He has been active in youth programs through the Sunrise Rotarians, as a board member on the Exporit Science Center, and is a strong proponent of universal pre-school to help ensure that all children get off to a strong start in those early formative years. He served on the school district’s Career Technical Education/STEAM and Parcel Tax Oversight committees, as well as the Professional Development team that is part of the district’s Strategic Planning initiative. Bob has a track record of actively pursuing community and university partnerships to provide hands-on learning opportunities in our public schools.
As an experienced educator at the UC Davis vet school, Bob would bring a fresh perspective to the school board that is evidence-based and takes the long view in making our schools better. He understands that the culmination of decisions and actions taken today determines the continuing quality and improvement of our children’s education.
I encourage you to stop by the farmers market or a meet and greet to talk with Bob. Please join me in supporting Bob Poppenga for Davis school board!
