(From Press Release) – State Assemblyman Bill Dodd today announced receiving endorsements from three members of the Davis City Council for his campaign in the race for State Senate, District 3.
Councilmembers Will Arnold, Lucas Frerichs, and Rochelle Swanson have now endorsed Dodd.
“I have worked closely with Bill Dodd on a number of issues, and I have found him to be an effective and dedicated leader,” said Councilmember Will Arnold. “I believe he will serve us well in the State Senate.”
Dodd is running for the 3rd Senate District, which includes all of Napa and Solano Counties, as well as portions of Contra Costa, Sacramento, Sonoma and Yolo Counties. It includes the cities of Petaluma, Cotati, Rohnert Park, Sonoma, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, American Canyon, Calistoga, Napa, St. Helena, Yountville, Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville, Vallejo, Davis, Winters, Woodland and Isleton.
Dodd is a Democrat from Napa County. After a successful 25-year business career, Dodd served four terms on the Napa County Board of Supervisors, and currently represents the 4th Assembly District.
How come no mention of Dodd’s recent party switch, or his opponent’s name?
Because it’s a Dodd campaign press release
This is an ongoing point of confusion: articles that say “posted by David Greenwald” with no other identifying byline lead readers to conclude that David is the author. It seems to me that an introductory sentence stating the provenance of the following piece would be a simple and effective way of clearing away the doubt.
That’s a setting that didn’t get changed. The top is labeled “press release”
Will Arnold’s comment is a bit of faint praise.
David, you should ask Will whether you can quote him as follows? “I have worked closely with Mariko Yamada on a number of issues, and I have found her to be an effective and dedicated leader,” […] “I believe she will serve us well in the State Senate.”
