(From Press Release) The Yolo County Democratic Party (YCDP) has endorsed candidates for federal, state and local races in the Tuesday, November 8 General Election. These endorsements are the conclusion of a lengthy process by both the California Democratic Party (CDP) and the Yolo County Democratic Party.
“In this election year, now is a critical time for Democrats to guide the nation toward policies of fairness, tolerance, and better economic and educational opportunities for all of us,” said YCDP Chair Bob Schelen.
“The Yolo County Democratic Party is confident that our endorsed 2016 candidates embody these principles, and that their election will allow Yolo County and California to continue to lead the nation in fostering the kind of communities we all want for ourselves and for our children,” he added.

Maintains current tax rates on wealthy to prevent $4 billion in cuts to public education.

Increases cigarette tax by $2/pack to keep children from smoking and improve healthcare.

Authorizes parole consideration for nonviolent inmates for good behavior, education and rehab achievement.

Helps students learn English as quickly as possible and allows for all students to learn a second language.

Asks lawmakers to overturn Citizen’s United and stop the flood of secret corporate money into our elections.

Gives any person in California the authority to sue adult film performers and other workers, violates their privacy and reduces workplace safety.

Replaces California’s outdated and costly death penalty with life in prison without parole.

Replacement of expiring parcel tax with new parcel tax to maintain school funding.
Californians must be registered to vote by October 24 to be eligible to vote in the General Election this year. YCDP will maintain a booth each Saturday through election day at the Davis Farmers Market where state and county residents can register to vote.
