(From Press Release) – The Davis Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has chosen to support three candidates for City Council. All of the candidates provided written answers to questions and participated in several forums where their answers were analyzed. Through a highly structured evaluation process it was clear that these three people stood out as the most closely aligned with the Political Action Committee’s goals and values.
Mary Jo Bryan:
Unabashed support and advocacy for change on all levels sets Mary Jo Bryan apart. Pragmatic, positive and a forty year track record of working to make Davis a better community. She has also been an advocate for job and housing growth for all strata of Davis residents from students to seniors. We believe that Mary Jo Bryan supports our vision for the business community.
Mark West:
Pro business growth, pro housing growth and the only candidate against the anti housing ordinance Measure J/R. Mark has pulled no punches that he believes the lack of growth since the passage of Measure J/R has been bad for our community. A vote for Mark West is a vote that supports economic development through smart growth and to send the message that our town needs to change the Measure R/J ordinance.
Dan Carson:
Dan is the number one expert on City finance of all the candidates. He has volunteered on the Finance and Budget Commission for years and demonstrated we need his expertise on the council. Dan will capture votes across interest groups because our City needs a financial expert on the Council to address our financial problems.
