WOODLAND, Calif. — Local organizations are planning an ICE Out Demand Justice rally and march in Woodland on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m., calling for criminal charges against a federal immigration agent involved in an incident in which a Woodland resident was struck by a vehicle.

The demonstration follows recent immigration enforcement operations in Woodland, including an incident involving resident Antonio Moreida, who organizers say was struck by a vehicle driven by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Participants will march from the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office at 301 Second St. to Rep. Mike Thompson’s office and then to the Woodland courthouse.

The event is being organized by Yolo Democratic Socialists of America in collaboration with UC Davis Young Democratic Socialists of America, Indivisible Yolo, DeFlock Woodland, Davis Phoenix Coalition and Mutual Aid Davis.

“If, to you, Yolo County truly is for everyone, we call on you to join us in demanding justice for Antonio Moreida and to get ICE thuggery out of Yolo County for good,” said Dillan Horton, co-chair of Yolo Democratic Socialists of America.

The coalition is calling on the Yolo County district attorney to prosecute the ICE agent involved in the incident on charges of hit-and-run, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with intent to cause great bodily injury.

If the district attorney does not file charges within what organizers consider a reasonable period, the coalition is urging California Attorney General Rob Bonta to take over the prosecution.

The groups are also demanding that the Woodland Police Department disclose all communications with ICE.
