Lake County Leaders Support Krovoza for Assembly
This week two high-profile leaders in Lake County announced their endorsement of Joe Krovoza for State Assembly. Lake County District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing and retired County Administrator Kelly Cox have both given their formal support to Krovoza’s campaign to represent Lake County and the rest of Assembly District 4.
“Joe not only ‘gets it’ when it comes to our Lake and environmental issues; he understands the economic challenges we face as well,” said Supervisor Rushing. “As a member of the Assembly, he will bring to Lake County the expertise and passion needed to address State policies impacting our communities.” Supervisor Rushing was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2006, and she has served as a committed advocate for justice and environmental stewardship.
“Joe Krovoza will be a superb representative for Lake County in the State Assembly,” said retired County Administrator Kelly Cox. “He understands the unique needs of our communities and he will be a a tireless and effective advocate for Clear Lake, our economy, and our quality of life.” Cox served as County Administrator for more than 30 years, overseeing county accomplishments such as the acquisition of the Lucerne Hotel and the purchase of Mount Konocti for use as a county park.
“I am honored to have the support of these two accomplished Lake County leaders,” said Krovoza. “I admire their passion and commitment to the county, and it will serve as a model for my service to Lake County in the Assembly.”
Rushing and Cox join dozens of community leaders and organizations who have endorsed Joe Krovoza in the crowded race for Assembly District 4. Krovoza has also received endorsements from independent papers such as the Sacramento Bee and the Davis Enterprise, from environmental organizations such as the Sierra Club, and from the state’s largest LGBT advocacy organization, Equality California.
Krovoza, a lifelong Democrat, is a candidate for the 4th Assembly District, which includes Lake and Napa Counties, most of Yolo County, and part of Colusa, Solano, and Sonoma Counties. For more on Krovoza’s campaign, see joekrovoza.org

Janene Beronio Receives More Endorsements
Yolo Superior Court Commissioner Janene Beronio, a candidate for election as Yolo Superior Court Judge, has received more endorsements, her campaign committee announced today.
The Yolo County Probation Association members have voted to give the association endorsement to Commissioner Beronio. President of the Yolo County Probation Association Jennifer Ellasces provided the following statement in conjunction with the endorsement: “Probation officers play an important role in the criminal justice system. We favor neither the prosecution nor the defense, but provide neutral and unbiased input and support to judicial officers. We also supervise persons on pre-trial supervised release, criminal defendants on probation and we monitor sentenced prisoners on mandatory supervision. Our primary goal is community safety, and therefore, it is important for us to work with smart, savvy and knowledgeable Judges. That is why we support Janene Beronio for Yolo Superior Court Judge.”
In their letter of endorsement to Commissioner Beronio, the association noted the retirement of long-time Judge Steve Mock (which precipitated the election to fill his seat) and the need to have an experienced judicial officer like Commissioner Beronio as the person to succeed Judge Mock.
Commissioner Beronio said the following in response to the endorsement, “It warms my heart to receive the endorsement of the hard-working women and men who serve as probation officers. They often go unrecognized by the public – but they perform vitally important duties in the criminal justice system and are unsung heroes. I have been endorsed by prosecutors and by defense attorneys across the board – and I am delighted to now receive the endorsement of probation officers who work day in and day out in the system.”
Following on the heels of the Yolo County Probation Association endorsement, Commissioner Beronio has also been endorsed by SCOPO (the State Coalition of Probation Organizations) and also by the Valley Chapter of PORAC (the Peace Officers Research Association of California).
A spokesperson for the Beronio campaign, Judge Dave Rosenberg, said today, “The campaign has been heartened by the wide and deep support Janene Beronio has received from users of court services. Judges uniformly support Commissioner Beronio, as do the lawyers who practice in the courthouse, law enforcement across the board, and now probation officers. Commissioner Beronio’s commitment to the court, broad knowledge of the law, and level of experience is unmatched in this campaign. Folks who know the court best seem to agree on that.”
Janene Beronio has worked as a Yolo Superior Court Commissioner for the past 25 years, and prior to that time, served as a deputy district attorney in Yolo County. Commissioner Beronio has also been endorsed by the Yolo County Bar Association, all law enforcement associations in Yolo County, and all three major newspapers serving Yolo County.

From the Campaign Trail: Sam Neustadt
As I’ve been talking to residents in Yolo County, I’ve been asked to explain the responsibilities of Superintendent of Schools. The Davis Enterprise recently printed an article that outlines the many responsibilities wonderfully.
The role of Superintendent of Schools in Yolo County has never been more important. We are facing a time of rapid and dramatic changes to our educational system. I stand ready, on day one, to tackle those challenges.
As my supporters know, I have 28 years in K-12 education. While my opponent only recently renewed his teaching credential, after a 17-year lapse and seemingly only for the purpose of running in this election, I have remained an active educator. In the past three decades, I have been a teacher, a principal, and an Assistant Superintendent, and I have advocated on behalf of students, families, and teachers by collaborating with county officials and state legislators to find solutions that better serve our students.
Last week, I was honored to be recognized for my experience when I received the endorsement of the Davis Enterprise. I continue to receive encouragement from my supporters who have sent in letters to the editors of many local newspapers, including the Sacramento Bee, Davis Enterprise, and Woodland Record. I am so grateful for your support.
As we enter the final month of this election, I urge you to reach out to me with your questions. And, if you support my candidacy, join our volunteer efforts:
