Mariko YamadaMariko Yamada’s campaign for State Senate District 3 announced today the endorsement of the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) – California’s leading statewide organization of the environmental movement working to educate voters and elect environmental advocates to office.

Sarah Rose, CLCV’s CEO, stated, “CLCV is proud to endorse Mariko Yamada for State Senate. She has been a true champion and trailblazer for the environmental movement. We need strong leaders working for us who will address climate change and protect our water supply and food sources for future generations. She has demonstrated time and time again that she will take a stand for the environment.”

CLCV joins prominent statewide organizations and leaders in supporting Yamada’s campaign – including California Nurses Association, California Federation of Teachers, California Association of Psychiatric Technicians, National Women’s Political Caucus of California, California Women’s List, Controller Betty Yee, Treasurer John Chiang, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, Congressman John Garamendi, Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (ret.) and hundreds of local elected officials and community leaders.

Yamada said of the new endorsement, “Protecting the environment is an urgent matter – recognized around-the-world – and especially here at home. I am honored by CLCV’s endorsement in this race and look forward to advancing the goals we share in preserving and enhancing the health and well-being of all California communities and California families.”

Yamada continued, “Today, more than ever, we need leaders who will take a stand – not politicians who will take a walk. I am fully committed to doing all that we can to protect our natural resources and to make sure Californians have access to safe food and water.”

Mariko Yamada represented the 8th Assembly District and the 4th Assembly District from 2008 – 2014, which includes most of State Senate District 3. During that time, Yamada was known as an outspoken advocate for the protection of agriculture, veterans, vulnerable elders, the mentally ill and persons with disabilities and their caregivers throughout the state. She has been a consistent and insistent voice on the preservation of prime farmland and water resources. She also served as a Yolo County Supervisor from 2003 – 2008.

State Senate, District 3 includes Solano and Napa Counties and portions of Contra Costa, Sacramento, Sonoma and Yolo Counties.
