I support Dean Johansson for DA, and urge Vanguard readers to vote for him, too. Dean’s record as a prosecutor, public defender, and civil rights lawyer shows his integrity, effectiveness, and commitment to justice. He will use our resources more efficiently to make Yolo safer and our justice system truly fair to all.
I’ve watched Reisig and his supporters go deeply negative. In a recent letter to the Davis Enterprise, they even attacked our shared Quaker practice of truthfulness at all times, rather than just by oath or pledge. Dean has affirmed his commitment to the Constitution and to “liberty and justice for all” and has demonstrated that consistently, throughout his many years of public service.
The facts show, though, that Yolo must and can do better than his opponent’s poor track record and negativity! We need education not incarceration, focused not unsuccessful scattershot prosecution, and equal justice for all. Dean has the experience, discernment, and honesty to be the change we need. He will truly be the “District’s Attorney” – representing the whole Yolo community.
