Right on Crime is promoting the Bureau of Prisons’ new plan to implement the First Step Act and Second Chance Act, aiming to improve public safety and personal responsibility by allowing offenders to combine earned time credits and reducing delays of referrals.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has issued a policy memorandum to staff detailing improvements to the First Step Act and Second Chance Act, including allowing individuals to receive cumulative and stackable time credits, prioritizing stable housing and community reintegration readiness, and eliminating residential reentry center bed capacity as a barrier to home confinement.
