The Trump administration is pushing policies that undermine women’s economic freedom and security, enforce archaic gender roles, and restrict access to reproductive healthcare, in an effort to pressure women into marrying men and raising children.
Congress passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” which cuts Medicaid and Planned Parenthood funding to fund President Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda, threatening the health and rights of millions of Americans.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has denounced the “Big, Beautiful Betrayal” bill, warning that it would strip care from cancer patients, meals from children, and money from working families, and impose deep cuts to public safety agencies and Planned Parenthood, while also raising costs for families and fueling aggressive immigration enforcement.
The ACLU has criticized the Senate’s approval of H.R. 1, the “so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, for gutting Medicaid, cutting off access to Planned Parenthood services, and redirecting funds towards a deportation apparatus, which would deny due process and violate human rights.
The Supreme Court ruled that Medicaid patients do not have a right to sue to enforce their right to a qualified health care provider of choice, potentially limiting access to essential reproductive health care services.
