The council voted 3-2 to grant the hardship exemption with the following conditions for approval. After a recess, the council majority, along with Blondies, agreed to several modifications.
Condition 6: Modified to eliminate the provision against live musical entertainment but retain the rest of the provisions against other live entertainment, such as topless entertainment.
Condition 12: Specified that no patrons under 21 would be allowed on the patio after hours, or there would be no service of alcohol on the patio.
Condition 21: Deleted as repetitive or contradictory
Condition 28: Size of the clutch bag utilizes the NFL provisions and can be modified upon consent of the DPD.
Condition 30: Changes the wording for “greater” to “excessive” in terms of alcoholic beverages being offered at lower prices which would allow normal happy hour promotions.
Condition 31: Preclusion of pitchers would be altered to after 10 pm
Condition 32: Closing time will be 1 am, agreed to 10 pm for Picnic Day but eliminated other listed holidays.

i want to understand why we live in a town that apparently searches for weapons when you go to the movie theater. and now we are proposing wanding people for weapons going to have pizza at blondies. why do we need this?
I hate to break it to you, but things have gotten a little stabby around town as of late.
are we going to use metal detectors to enter city council as well, because someone got stabbed at ketmoree?
um . . . do you know something I don’t?
To DP: Wanding only occurs after 10 pm when the nightclub starts up, is my understanding…
David, isn’t that a picture of the front of Blondie’s Pizza in Berkeley? Is that even the same chain? Blondie’s Pizza in Berkeley certainly doesn’t have a night club, never has. It’s been strictly a Pizza joint on Telegraph Ave. in the same location for at least four decades. Odd and inappropriate picture for this discussion — hardly what we are talking about even if the same company is involved — kind of backs the ridiculous Blond-E Cheese assertion (“No nightclub here, move along.”). Blondie’s Berkeley used to have decent pizza, but crashed in the 90’s, and Fat Slice one block over cleans their clock now.
Question: Does KetMoRee have to abide by these same rgulations?
That was definitely one of the key conditions that Blondies argued for … same rules for everyone.
Once the City Council decides on a new more stringent ordinance that all nightclubs/bars in town have to follow, it will apply to EVERYONE. ABC has not yet received information about the KetMoRee murder because there is still an ongoing police investigation. However, even if KetMoRee was negligent in how it ran its bar/nightclub, it will be very difficult for ABC to pull its liquor license. There has to be a regular pattern of violence, and even then it is difficult to pull a liquor license – according to Asst. Police Chief Pytel.
