I am a lifelong Democrat and consider myself a liberal. After my family was impacted, I became aware that the Davis school system and other entities were promoting a set of beliefs I do not agree with and believe are indeed very harmful to the young people exposed to them. I am not alone in this belief, and I am not alone among left-leaning lifelong Democrats in this belief. I wanted to do something about it because I have always believed that it is important to speak up when something is not right, and people are being harmed.
I thought an effective means of communication would be to hold open public meetings which anyone could attend and respectfully listen to and question the point of view that was being left out of the conversation in Davis schools and in Davis generally.
In order to do that, I joined an organization—Moms for Liberty—that had similar concerns to my own. I needed to be part of an organization to best organize the events I envisioned and to have access to the public library space in Davis.
With the help of Moms for Liberty, and other concerned mothers in Davis, including Allie Snyder, we were able to bring in experts, including scientists, attorneys, feminists, and athletes to discuss these issues, free of charge, for the benefit and education of anyone in the Davis community who wished to attend.
At every event, activists who did not like what was being said at these events attempted to disrupt the proceedings, but they never succeeded in stopping an event until the event about women’s sports on August 20th.
There, our very first speaker, a young female athlete, was told by a representative of the Davis library that she had to leave the library rather than talk about the facts of what was happening in women’s sports. When other speakers attempted to speak factual language, the event was officially closed down by that library representative.
Many people were filming and these moments went viral, understandably. The result was a great deal of commentary expressed about the fact that our event was improperly shut down.
We wanted to hold a peaceful event, and we did. If our planned event is all that had happened, the event never would have gone viral and become, for a few hours, a national news story.
The shutting down of the event had nothing to do with me. I did not want that to happen, and I did not make it happen.
After the shut down of our event went viral, public opinion was obviously very strongly on the side of the women who had been silenced and kicked out of the library. A day after the event, a bomb threat came in to local media, followed by more bomb threats now even weeks later.
No one knows who made the bomb threats or where in the world they are originating. No one knows the true motive behind the bomb threats.
After the initial bomb threat, I and Moms for Liberty released a statement, denouncing the bomb threats and all threats of violence that would disrupt and jeopardize the safety of the community.
The bomb threats are appalling and do not help Allie or me, nor do they help Moms for Liberty. They do not help the cause we are fighting for.
Beth and Allie have no control over the millions of other members and followers of her designated hate and neo-fascist organization. Those are the vile and cowardly wimps solely responsible for these terror threats. Beth and Allie are at best DINOs (Democrats in Name Only) and at worst Republicans in sheep’s clothing. To still call themselves Democrats is an affront to all actual patriotic Democrats like myself.

It’s pretty hilarious and speaks to a particular mindset. They want to have the latitude to blast out whatever hateful, hurtful things that cross their minds, but want the rest of us to just shut up and take it.

Except for the fact that your “young female athlete” was the Outreach Coordinator for the California Family Foundation, a right-wing religious organization, who immediately contacted conservative media outlets and podcasters to complain that her 1st amendment right of free speech was prevented by an “abusive man.” This was a huge mistake to invite her to give the Welcome for your event. You didn’t have to join Moms for Liberty – an anti-government extremist group. This was your choice and I warned early on that association with such a group would not be well-received. I don’t want to have anything to do with this group. I won’t attend its events. I think you should quit Moms for Liberty and disband the Yolo Chapter.

Agreed. Who you pick for you allies is just as important as your message–they cannot stand apart. Unfortunately, the local chapter, if separating itself from the overall agenda of M4L is its true intent, is unable to recognize this critical fact. The initial ambiguity of early statements and the seeming willingness to leverage the notoriety for publicity further undermines the sincerity of the message. This is too little too late to be effective.
I’m glad you have made this statement against terrorist threats. I wish a firm statement against the bomb threats had been more forcibly made by Moms for Liberty after each of the multiple incidents of terrorism Davis experienced. The chair of the Yolo County chapter of Moms for Liberty issued a statement on behalf of M4L on her public Facebook page condemning the initial bomb threats. When asked directly if she condemned the second round of threats directed at schools and individuals, she refused at first to reply. After another invitation to condemn the second round of attacks she did eventually reply directly – not with a statement against the threats nor with a reference to the first statement, but with a graphic picture, without comment or context, of a trans individual who had recently undergone cosmetic surgery. It was a tasteless and tone-deaf response to an important request in this politically charged environment. (She later recycled the original statement and posted it deep in a sub-thread on her Facebook page). As others have said, if the local chair of M4L truly believes (as she has stated) that the bomb threats are a “false flag,” why would she not bend over backwards as many times as possible to make sure everyone knows that she and M4L reject terrorism as a political tactic? I’m glad to see a more public rejection now.
This part of her statement completely undercuts any possible sincerity of regret, understanding of the situation and her (possibly indirect) responsibility of her association with criminal domestic terrorists.
Her statement is true as written. It’s not yet known who is responsible for the threats. There’s always the possibility of it being a false flag operation in order to try and discredit M4L.
That’s such stupid load of garbage (as there is ZERO evidence that any of this is a false flag….ZERO). The culprit could also be God, the Devil, Elvis or my 3rd Grade teacher. I have no way to prove it but…hey I can just say stupid things and say imply that it’s a plausibility to stupidly attempt to cloud the issue and the the likely culprits.

The false flag seems like a red herring to me.
Do you know something that everyone else doesn’t? Have you been privy to any evidence as to who’s been executing the threats? I hope they find the culprit(s) but until then I choose to not jump to conclusions.
I don’t know anything specifically. It’s a gut feeling based on the totality of the circumstances. I can’t imagine someone trying to make M4L look bad do it six times, go as far as to mask their identity, to target people personally, etc. Moreover, at the time of the first bomb threat, the news was national on Fox and other right wing media and the passion at that time was on the side of the right wing not people on the other side. I add all of that, and I come down on the side that this is someone on M4L’s side. Again, that is my gut feeling based on what we’ve seen.
David, you make some good points here and I agree the odds favor it not being a false flag. But it’s not a “stupid load of garbage” to consider the possibility of it being one. Wars have been started using false flags.

You continue to miss the point. I can say prove that the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause aren’t calling in the bomb threats. What you have no evidence that they didn’t? Well it’s a possibility to consider! Trying to prove a negative is a logical fallacy. Trying to stretch and twist logic to support a political narrative speaks volumes about you.
Btw. as to the original issue….I’m almost neutral. I don’t really care who does what in youth sports. I figure whatever the issue let the people directly involved work it out. I also believe you should be able discuss just about anything in public. The the anti-whatever liberty moms group should not have been kicked out of the library….heck I don’t care if they want discuss bring back serfdom….if they want to bring back prohibition….I’m all for their right to discuss prohibition (but I might go out and protest their meeting). But THE ISSUE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TERRORIST THREATS ON ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

Republicans never take responsibility for their own actions and words. It’s never their fault. The M4L is a Republican front organization. Only biased and gulable people would fall for this false flag nonsense.
I don’t think anyone has fallen for anything, they’re just saying it’s a possibility. In my opinion the ones that are gullible are the people who don’t consider that it might be a false flag.
That the FBI is investigating it as a false flag (which they probably do for many of these threats) doesn’t increase the probability that it is.

Let’s be clear. The M4L has declared, without any proof and low probability, that the threats ARE a false flag, without any caveats. We might not have clear uncontroverted evidence, but the preponderance of evidence points away from a false flag and we can proceed on that basis rather than just sitting around waiting for an answer that might never come.
As it is, the school district cannot make a decision that goes against current policy under these threats–it would appear to be capitulation to terrorism. The only possible path out is for M4L to drop its current campaign and see if the threats disappear. If threats go away, then it can resume its campaign at a later date.
