  1. Is a knifing in downtown Davis now this acceptable, or are these people seen as “outsiders”?

Decades ago I recall the worst I’d see on a night out was low-level pushing, or maybe one swing, in a bar. These serious fights outside bars seem to be happening a lot more frequently.

  2. This story is also about the bar scene in Davis that attracts people from out of town.  Perhaps David could find someone who is part of the scene to write about why people in this age range drive 10 or 20 miles to go drinking (and presumably drive home) when they live in communities that have bars and places to hang out.  I’m curious about why Davis has such a draw in view of the rather larger and more interesting bar scene that exists in midtown Sacramento.

  3. Suspects were identified as: Ramiro Alejandro Cordova, 23 years old from Sacramento; Nathalie Hernandez, 25 years old from Woodland.

I recall that there was a girl named Nathalie Hernandez, about the age of this suspect, on one of the TV singing contest shows called The Voice. I remember her name because it was pronounced NAT-uh-lee, but it looked like it should be NATH-uh-lee. I wonder if its the same person.

EDIT: I searched Google images and discovered pretty quickly it is not the same lady. Here is a Twitter picture of the suspect.

And here is a picture of the singer with the same name:

No comment on which one is prettier.

  4. Is this a Woodland to Davis problem? I recall a few months back there was a weekend, mid day fight outside of a bar, and I think the suspects were also from Woodland.
