Betty

Betty A. Mills, is a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform and a community leader. She spent nearly two decades in the criminal justice system, committed to changes to her life and circumstances. She was released ten years ago, and since then, She has received an AA in Sociology and a BA in Criminology. She is three classes away from a Master of Public Administration at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She is a LARRP LEADER and Administrative Coordinator for the Prison Education Project and the Reintegration Academy. She provides re-entry services for adults and youth impacted by the criminal justice system with these organizations. This was accomplished through mentoring and providing education and vocational services. Her mentor once told me that “Education is Liberation.” Accordingly, she lives by that motto, believing in education, diversity, equity, and transparency to create community.
