Yolo County Democratic Party to Host 38th Annual Bean Feed Dinner

The Yolo County Democratic Party will host its 38th Annual Bean Feed Dinner on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Veterans Memorial Center in Davis located at 203 East 14th Street. This year’s theme is “Taking Back the House.”

The Annual Bean Feed is the primary fundraiser of the Yolo County Democratic Party and provides hundreds of Democrats from Yolo County and neighboring counties with the opportunity to network, socialize, galvanize and focus on the work to be done in the election year ahead. All are welcome to attend.

The event will feature live music and home cooked cuisine from the Davis Firefighters and the River City Democratic Club of West Sacramento. Guest speakers from Democratic congressional campaigns across northern California will address the issues of the day and politics of 2014. The event will also feature the popular Dessert Dash Contest, showcasing delicious confections from the culinary masters of Yolo County.

Standard admission is just $35 per person in advance or $40 at the door. Sponsorships are available. Participation in this event will support Democratic Party organizing here in Yolo County and across California.

The Yolo County Democratic Center Committee serves as the official representative and governing body of the California Democratic Party in Yolo County. The Yolo Land Trust’s signature event “A Day in the Country” will be held this year on September 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. Buy your tickets today!

A Day in the Country features delicious tastings from top chefs representing over 20 restaurants. Each chef creates special dishes featuring food grown on Yolo County’s rich farmland. Farms, ranches, vineyards and breweries throughout Yolo County join in providing delicious tastings and beverages. Live music performed by the Bonanza King Band will make it an especially enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

The silent auction this year includes many great donations from generous organizations and individuals. Some of the items being showcased are: Dinner for eight at the Inn at Park Winters, Disneyland tickets, autographed ball by Sacramento Republic FC, two tickets to Outstanding in the Field, cooking classes with Paulette Bruce, dinner for eight at Taber Ranch, and an overnight stay for four at Capay Valley Bed & Breakfast, just to name a few.

A Day in the Country celebrates the Yolo Land Trust’s over 25 years of farmland conservation. The Yolo Land Trust has partnered with willing landowners to permanently conserve over 10,000 acres of agricultural land, riparian corridors and Swainson’s hawk habitat in Yolo County, all of which remain in private ownership and on Yolo County’s tax rolls. Over 60 family farms will remain in farming forever as a result of the work of the Yolo Land Trust.

Assembly Candidate Bill Dodd To Host Community Reception In Davis

WHAT: Napa County Supervisor and 4th Assembly District candidate Bill Dodd will host a community reception to meet residents of Davis and discuss his candidacy. All members of the public are welcome.

Dodd is a Democrat from Napa County. After a successful 25-year business career, he has served four terms on the Napa County Board of Supervisors. The 4th Assembly District includes all of Napa and Lake Counties, and portions of Colusa, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo Counties, including the City of Davis.
